Marcel Avram

In a history going back more than 45 years, Marcel Avram has established himself as one of the world's most renowned personalities in the international concert business. There is scarcely a world star that hasn't successfully completed at least one tour with Marcel Avram. Many owe the crucial steps of their artistic career to him.

Whether rock giants, such as Michael Jackson, Pink Floyd, U2, Rolling Stones, Madonna, Rod Stewart, Prince, Bon Jovi, Celine Dion, Elton John, Tina Turner, The Who, Deep Purple and Ozzy Osbourne, entertainers, such as Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., Barbra Streisand, Tom Jones and Liza Minelli, the world’s classical stars, such as Placido Domingo and José Carreras, or heartthrobs, such as Neil Diamond, Lionel Richie, Adriano Celentano and Eros Ramazzotti, they have all entrusted him with their concerts and tours, and celebrated worldwide success as a result.

Marcel Avram was born in Bucharest, Romania. His parents are of Greek and Romanian-Jewish descent. War, chaos, the struggle to survive and religious battles shape the first 10 years of his life. With his parents, he emigrates to Israel. Influenced by the post-war years, his faith helps him to come to grips with this difficult phase.

When he is 14 years old, the family moves to Frankfurt where he initially works in his parents' business. Here he gets to know the music of the 1950's, which will shape his professional success: Rock 'n' Roll. He was a champion at Rock ’n’ Roll dance and won a lot of competitions.

In 1968, Marcel Avram founds the legendary Mama Concerts together with his friend and partner Marek Lieberberg. He brings world-class artists to Germany and Europe - his initiative turns sport halls and football arenas into concert halls and open-air coliseums. Marcel Avram recognizes the signs of the times: He creates successful TV formats such as "Thommys Popshow", "Peters Popshow", "Italian Nacht" and "Rock Over Germany", which become a powerful media platform in Central Europe for his artists. For example, he also brings the Chinese becomes his partner. Bit by bit, the brilliant strategy builds Mama Concert & Rau, as the partnership is then called, into the largest promotion agency in the world.

Already at that time Marcel Avram had a clear idea of how the business will run in the future decades and created CTS now called Eventim. Already 25 years ago he was the first promoter to organize European and world tours with Cat Stevens and Leonard Cohen and later on with Prince, Michael Jackson, Rod Stewart, Eros Ramazzotti and Andrea Bocelli.

In 1991 German President Weizsäcker pays tribute to this "commitment that is bringing people together... and the spontaneous help for those in need" with the Order of Merit on the ribbon of the Federal Republic of Germany. In the USA, he is named "Promoter of the Year" in 1995.

Marcel Avram organizes the first concert with Michael Jackson in 1972, with the Jackson 5. Between 1988 and 1999 there are three large world tours with Michael Jackson, with more than 100 stadium shows on all continents. In Europe, these are in cities such as Munich, Berlin, Madrid, Moscow, Paris, Rome, Helsinki, Bucharest, Budapest, Prague and Istanbul. With Jackson, Avram arranges the first concert given in India by a megastar, in Mumbai. The music continues in Asia in Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Manila, Taiwan, Tokyo, Sydney, as well as Wellington, New Zealand and Hawaii. A personal invitation from the Sultan takes Jackson to Brunei. He performs in Israel, Tunisia and Algeria. In South America, he plays countries such as Chile, Argentina, Mexico and Brazil. In Mexico City Marcel Avram broke every existing record with Michael Jackson by selling out the Aztec stadium with a capacity of 110.000 five times in a row.

Marcel Avram organizes stadium tours through South America for Eros Ramazotti and he completes more than 300 concerts in the USA, Canada, Europe, Singapore, Bangkok, Hong Kong and Taiwan with Rod Stewart.

Michael Jackson is the one who approaches Marcel Avram in early 1999 and asks for his support for the largest charity concert ever held for children in need: "Jackson & Friends". When Marcel Avram takes over the organization of this mega event in Seoul and Munich, he is aware of both his responsibility and his risk. Hundreds of artists, millions of spectators and donators on the screens, umpteen thousand enthusiastic concertgoers, record ratings on ZDF and millions in donations for the needy speak for themselves. The mega event is broadcast in more than 50 countries.

In 2001, Marcel Avram returns to Israel and coordinates tours with various partners all over the world. World stars, such as AC/DC, Lionel
Richie, Bruce Springsteen, Metallica, Bon Jovi, Kylie Minogue, Eric Clapton, the Rolling Stones, Prince and U2 as well as many other artists.

At the moment, Marcel Avram is putting all his efforts into presenting and promoting concerts not only in central Europe but also in Istanbul, Tel Aviv, Sofia, Bucharest, Belgrade and many more.
