Mehmet Dede

Over the past 15 years, Mehmet Dede established himself as a festival curator, tour producer and art presenter with high-profile concerts at Central Park SummerStage, Lincoln Center, City Winery, the Brooklyn Museum, as well as non-traditional venues like parking lots, rooftops, and even boats. His boutique events company Electric Lila specializes in curating branded experiences for clients like Cartier, Heineken and Red Bull, and consulting on cross-cultural events with cultural offices of France, Romania, Hungary and Turkey. As co-founder of NY Gypsy Festival, he hosted shows with Gogol Bordello, Beirut and Balkan Beat Box in the last nine years becoming one of the premier world music festivals in the US.

Since 2010 Dede works as DROM's talent buyer, a 300 people-capacity club in the East Village, described by the Wall St. Journal as "New York's premiere venue for world music." He is responsible for Drom's eclectic programming having booked shows with Robert Glasper, Jean Grae, Marco Benevento, DJ ?uestlove, Fanfare Ciocarlia, Red Baraat, Al di Meola, among many others.

Dede also is an Adjunct Professor at the Clive Davis Institute of Recorded Music at NYU where he teaches "Curating Live Events." Before founding his company, Dede worked at creative agency Giant Step for seven years and Universal Music Group for two years. Mehmet Dede holds an M.A. in Music Business from New York University with honors and a B.Sc. in Engineering from Istanbul Technical University. He was interviewed by The Wall Street Journal, Voice of America, The Huffington Post and appeared on WNYC, WBAI and WFMU.
